Simone Pedroni

Born in Novara, Italy, Simone Pedroni graduated at the Giuseppe Verdi’s Conservatory in Milan, refining his studies at the Accademia Pianistica Incontri col Maestro de Ímola, with Lazar Berman, Franco Scala and Piero Rattalino. He won the second prize at the Arthur Rubenstein Piano Competition in Tel- Aviv and the first prize at the Queen Sonja in Oslo, in 1933 he won the gold medal at the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

Since then his International career has led him to perform in the most important European, American and Asiatic auditoriums like the Carnegie Hall in New York, The Teatro alla Scala in Milan and in cities as Berlin, Hannover, Lisboa, Tel- Aviv, Montecarlo and others in USA and Japan.

He has played with the most international renowned orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Mocow Virtuosi, Orchestra del Maggio Musical of Florence, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale Della RAI, Santa Cecilia Orchestra di Roma, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra or the Orquesta Nacional de España, among others. He has worked under the baton of very prestigious conductors as Yehudi Menuhin, Vladimir Spivakov, Zubin Mehta, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Eliahu Inbal, Pinchas Steinberg, Yuli Turovsky, Roberto Abbado or Riccardo Chailly, etc.

His repertoire includes all the most important concerts for piano and orchestra, as the concerts by Brahms, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Rachmaninov, etc as well as the most acclaimed pieces of piano’s repertoire. In 2000, on the occasion of Bach’s year, he made a very important tour in Spain, Italy, Japan and China playing Goldberg’s variations. This tour was a great success!!

Simone Pedroni has recorded for labels like Philips, Classics, Discantina or Lol Records. Among his CD’s we can include pieces by Bach, Liszt, Mussorgsky, Schubert or Arvo Pärt, etc.
